5. Sending information outside mainland China

HOAS is based in Shanghai. The providers in section 4 store or handle information outside mainland China, so when you send a form, subscribe to the newsletter or email us, your information leaves mainland China. We do this only so that we can receive and reply to your message, deliver work you ask for and send the newsletter you sign up for.

  • Each overseas recipient, what it does, where it is and how to contact it are listed in section 4.
  • Each recipient receives the information listed in section 2 for the form or service you use.
  • You give your separate consent to this when you tick the box on a form, the newsletter sign-up or before booking a call. Where sending your information is necessary to enter into or perform a contract with you, the law may allow it without consent, and we still tell you about it here.
  • Before we send personal information outside mainland China, we check what China's cross-border data rules require for the amount and type of information we handle, and we follow those requirements. We review this every year and whenever our services change.
  • You can exercise your rights against any of these recipients by contacting us and we will handle it with them, or by using the privacy contact on the recipient's own website.
  • For people in South Africa, we send information abroad with your consent, where it is needed for a contract with you, or to providers bound by data protection terms.
